Small businesses gather to cleanup blocks of Downtown Las Vegas for Earth Day

For 2021’s Earth Day, small businesses from around the Valley came together to lead by example by participating in a community clean-up, not only to show support for Earth Day in general, but to also show appreciation to patrons/customers for sticking by small business throughout the trials and tribulations of the pandemic.

As many know, the pandemic hit small businesses especially hard, and if it weren’t for the local customer bases choosing to shop small and shop local with a purpose, many businesses would not have survived the last year.

Representatives from small businesses, including Findlay VW Henderson, Golden Fog Coffee, the Las Vegas Lights FC, Sam & Ash Law, Sudden Impact Auto Body, Das Erbe, K Access Vegas, American National Insurance Company, 97.1 The Point and ESPN Las Vegas, non-profit group Ava’s Avengers, HyperX Esport Arena, Yu-Or-Mi Sushi Bar, Monat and Former Miss Nevada Earth, Kirsten Fernow, picked up trash around the downtown art district area.

John Gonzalez, Fixed Operations Manager at Findlay Volkswagen Henderson said:

“Businesses around DTLV tend to do an excellent job keeping up with the area, you can see the pride they have in the city. But Vegas winds and the nearby highways make trash pick-up a daily task. In supporting each other and by doing our part with activities like the clean-up days, I believe we can all help in the continued elevation and success of our city. Pick up a couple pieces of trash on your way into work or take an hour of your day to dig in, it all makes a difference and it is all important.”

In addition to showing the community that they are invested in the public spaces we all share, the small businesses involved hope to inspire others to do their part for our city as well.
