2017 VW Passat vs 2017 Toyota Camry

The midsize sedan segment has been a favorite around the world for a long time now. Every year, the top sedans compete amongst each other, fighting for the right to call themselves ‘the best.’ One of this year’s hottest rivalries is the 2017 VW Passat vs the 2017 Toyota Camry.

As any Passat owner would guess, Volkswagen has earned the win; but it was a good, close battle. The Camry put up a good fight, but the Passat ultimately comes out on top. Between base price, fuel economy, fuel capacity and cargo space, the Camry just can’t keep up.

2017 VW Passat vs 2017 Toyota Camry Specs and Fuel Economy

The 2017 VW Passat begins to pull away from the 2017 Toyota Camry as early as the price tag. Over $600 less expensive than the Camry, Passat owners will appreciate the extra gas money; although, they won’t need it any more than Camry drivers.

The fuel economy between the two is very similar, but the Passat does earn an extra mile per gallon on the highway. Even better, the Passat holds an extra 1.5 gallons over the Camry. Therefore, despite the similar fuel economy, a Passat owner won’t need to refill as often as a Camry owner.

Like a cherry on top, the Passat also offers more cargo space than the Camry. Between an extra half cubic foot, more gallons in the gas tank, an extra mile on the highway and a less expensive price tag, the 2017 VW Passat earns a win over the 2017 Toyota Camry.
