What is the Volkswagen ID. BUGGY Concept?

Fans of Volkswagen are no strangers to innovation from the manufacturer. With some of the most unique models on the market, models such as the Beetle and VW Bus have made a name for themselves for many years. Now, the team is at it again with their new buggy model. So, just what is the Volkswagen ID. BUGGY concept? 

VW ID. BUGGY model driving on open roadRecently announced to appear at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week after its initial debut at the Geneva International Motor Show, the new ID. BUGGY concept is an exciting new electric dune buggy model. 

Performance of the VW ID. BUGGY 

This new ID. BUGGY takes the old idea of the dune buggy and electrifies it, as the new ID. BUGGY ushers in a new identity of electric mobility with its dune buggy, which is powered by a 62 kWh battery with an estimated range of 155 miles. With its electric motor and high-voltage battery, the new ID. BUGGY is capable of outputting 201 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. The new concept vehicle is also able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds, along with an electronically controlled maximum speed of 99 mph.

The new ID. BUGGY was designed as a two-seater with off-road capabilities, thanks to features such as the standard 18-inch wheels and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A off-road tires. The ID. BUGGY also features an aluminum underbody, two red steel eyelets, a reinforced windshield frame and a Targa bar for rollover support.
