What’s New on the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI?
The 2017 model year is approaching, and although there aren’t any drastic changes to existing Volkswagen models that most VW fans don’t already know about, there are some things drivers need to be aware of. The Golf GTI is a model that has perhaps received more changes than many of the others, so we thought we’d share with you what’s new on the 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Among the rest of the Golf family, the Golf GTI is the sporty, yet still affordable, hot hatch. Fans of the car will find that even more thrilling performance is even more attainable in the 2017 model. This is thanks in part to a new high-value Sport trim.
What Comes With the 2017 VW Golf GTI Sport Trim Level?
This new trim level, which comes as a 4-door model, offers great value by coming standard with the GTI’s Performance Package. The package adds things like the same brakes as the Golf R, electronically controlled/torque sensing limited-slip differential and a horsepower increase from 210 to 220. Buyers of the new Sport trim will also get Bi-Xenon headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, push-button start, black mirror caps and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
Though this Performance Package is no longer offered on the entry level S trim level, it will also come standard on the SE and Autobahn trims.
Other Changes to the 2017 VW Golf GTI
A few of the other changes for the 2017 model year include attainable driver assistance features and a new Light Assist feature that has been added to the Driver Assistance Package for the Autobahn trim. The new feature can automatically raise the high-beam headlights when driving above 40 mph with no oncoming traffic present.
