How to Wax Your Volkswagen By Hand

Volkswagen drivers tend to be proud drivers, wanting to take the best care of their vehicle as possible. We always encourage drivers to take great care of their Volkswagen in order to ensure a long and healthy life. One of the easiest ways to do this is through regular washing and waxing, but learning how to wax your Volkswagen by hand for the first time may not be easy for some. There are a few tips and tricks you’ll want to know before getting started.

Car Waxing Tips for Your Volkswagen

Before waxing your Volkswagen, always be sure to thoroughly clean the exterior of your vehicle. You don’t want any grime, dirt or fluids to remain present on the exterior of your Volkswagen model.

You will need a clean, dry cloth (for removing the wax) and clean, lint free cloth (for buffing). Of course, you will also need some wax. If you have some already, then you’re ready to get started. If not, feel free to contact us to see what we would recommend for your model.

Watch the video below to learn how to wax your Volkswagen properly or follow our step-by-step guide.

  1. Move your vehicle to a shady or enclosed area, where the sun won’t beat down on the car’s exterior. This will prevent the wax from drying too quickly on your Volkswagen.
  2. Wax application: Apply the wax to your Volkswagen one body panel at a time. Do this in circular motions, applying only a thin film. You don’t want too much. As you move along the panels, be sure to check back on the panels that have already received wax to ensure the wax does not harden.
  3. Wax removal: The wax will eventually begin to dry, so you will need to go back and remove it using a clean and dry cloth. Again, use circular motions to begin removing the excess wax.
  4. Buff it: Once the wax has been removed from the entire vehicle, you can go back and buff it using a clean and lint-free cloth.
