2017 VW Golf Alltrack Dealership Arrival Date
Talk about an all-wheel drive version of the Golf SportWagen, called the Alltrack, has been going on for quite some time. Drivers want one and Volkswagen has been saying it will deliver. Now, we finally have an update to share about the 2017 VW Golf Alltrack dealership arrival date and specs.
2017 VW Golf Alltrack Engine Specs and Performance
A European-spec variation of the model has been shown by Volkswagen before, but it wasn’t until now that details on the US production model have been revealed. We can confirm that the Alltrack will come equipped with the same 170-horsepower engine producing 199 lb-ft of torque. This will be paired to either a dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission or 6-speed manual transmission to be made available at a later time.
Of course, fulfilling the Alltrack part of this model’s name is Volkswagen’s popular 4MOTION AWD system, allowing up to 50 percent of the drive torque to be sent to the back wheels when wheel slip is detected. When a wheel does slip, the system can briefly brake the wheel so that power is only directed to the wheel on the other side of the vehicle. In addition to the 4MOTION system, the Golf Alltrack also has a slightly higher ground clearance and an off-road mode.
US-Spec 2017 VW Golf Alltrack Release Date
So when can you get behind the wheel? Obviously the Alltrack model for the US will go on sale in the 2017 model year, and thankfully, this is expected to happen earlier in the model year rather than later. The latest update from Volkswagen states that the Golf Alltrack should go on sale in the fall of 2016.
